Paris Released
It appears Paris Hilton has been released from prison in California. Now there’s something I don’t understand about either the US’s or our sentencing policy. She was sentenced to 42 days in prison and I calculate that she has served 21. Now I’m no mathematician but, with the aid of Excel I make that 50%!
I suspect that this is the 50% off with good behaviour. What I don’t understand is why not sentence her to 21 days and double it for bad behaviour (and she’d have got double!). It’s such a short sentence it makes a mockery of sentencing to 42 days. If it were life, or twenty years, fine, but 42 days!
