On This Day…
Police only took 5 hours to get to our place to take a statement and order the scene of crimes people. They took about an hour extra to turn up, stayed about 10 minutes and left with, “They were wearing gloves”. No wonder there is no fear of reprisals for criminals. The reason they took so long? They’d had a large amount of break-ins over the weekend. That’s OK then and very Portsmouth. Probably find most of them were down the road protecting Beanie who was in the area. Very frustrating.
The more I think about it, the more I am sure there was some inside knowledge. The cupboards and drawers that were forced are ones that have previously held stuff, but didn’t any more. The cabinets with keys in and unlocked had all been left untouched. The most annoying thing was the damage to the broken window. It’s all back in place now, but that was pretty comical too. It’s a round window and the guy turned up, measured, went off to get glass, came back, struggled with the sucker thing you hold glass with for what seemed like 10-15 minutes. I had taken one glance and seen that he had gaps top and bottom, so there was no way it was going to fit. True enough, at 4:15pm, he was off to get glass of the right size
Surprisingly, and it warrants a post, two of Saint’s players made the league ‘Team of the Week’. It was not surprising who it would be, but for the record our two goal scorers, Marek Saganowski and Andrew Surman. Well done them, an all too occasional occurrence this season. Let’s just hope they can continue this run of form for a few games so that we stand a small chance of avoiding the drop. Whatever it’s going to be tough, but two or three on the bounce would lessen the woes a lot.
Need to get motivated to start some decoration now. It’s not really warm enough and with no heating will be tough, but there is possibly two room we could take a look at. Emma’s future bedroom and the family bathroom. Not sure they need anything doing and they should be fairly unaffected by the heating, electrical and building works. The gas man is finally coming today to move the pipe and also take a detailed look at the heating to see if he can get inside our current cheapest quote.
