On This Day…
Yesterday was a real strange one, at about 11am during our usual unpacking of returns, post, etc. (and we get a lot), we unpacked first a package containing a few hundred lottery tickets, so that needed a phone called to lottery operator Camelot to cancel them, bizarrely these were addressed to us. Next, the crème de la crème of bizarreness, two small cork pin boards taped back-to-back, which when opened, contained 100g of cannabis from Canada! (Then darn Canadians). So that was a call to police, statements, photographs, etc. Wished I’d just got stoned and scratched the cards
Part of the reason you’re only getting ‘on this day’ too is that I am struggling to get the chapters of book edited before Holiday.
On this day…
- Dow Jones publishes it’s first ‘average’ (1884)
- The Mallard beats the World steam locomotive speed record at 126mph (1936)
- 105 hostage rescued at Entebbe (1976)
Hatches, matches, despatches…
- Tom Stoppard born (1937)
- Tom Cruise born (1962)
- André-Gustave Citroën dies (1935)
- Brian Jones (Rolling Stones) dies (1969) (coincidentally buried at same cemetery as grand parents and other relatives in Cheltenham and people still go there today)
- Jim Morrison (The Doors) dies (1971)
It’s also the start of the ‘Dogs Days’
Weather =
(It doesn’t get any better and whilst I’ve accepted not selling any heaters last winter, surely global warming should help me sell some of our fans!)
Mood meter =
pretty neutral, great day at work yesterday (not), so hopefully better today!

Nick – you should never have given Debra your mailing address.

Hi Jake!
I thought that… when the police arrived I was glad I could show it wasn’t addressed to us!

Ha! If it were from me, it would have been addressed correctly.
Anyway, this would be the perfect day to plead the fifth.
