On This Day…
After probably the most turbulent time at Saints ever, we have announced our new manager this morning. It is Alan Pardew. About 10 days ago, we faced the prospect of going out of business and having no club to support, it really didn’t bear contemplation. However, football supporters have short memories and many are questioning if this is the right appointment. Well, let me tell you, apart from a very unfortunate spell at Charlton, a club in greater free fall than us if that’s possible, he did great at Reading in his early management career, with similar budgets in a similar league position and equally at West Ham in the Premier League. If we are planning long term, rather than changing our Manager with our kit, he is probably ideal. I’m just happy to have a club, don’t care about playing Exeter and Yeovil, don’t care about the ten point deduction. Just want to get out and support the team and hope the good times will return. That’s what proper football support is about, IMHO. I’m slightly sad that I can’t go to the Ajax game tomorrow, as I think it will be very upbeat and positive. Just have to wait for the Hearts game the following week.
Murray and Rob are arriving tonight before tomorrow’s stag do. I just hope Murray is strong enough to make sure I don’t end up on a cross-channel ferry or train somewhere. Have you seen the film hangover?
Got a few more tiles on last night, but I fear I will not get them finished this weekend. It is still a goal to get that done by the wedding, but it certainly is slow progress.
We have the whole family back now, which is nice. Lindsay is tanned and with a headband looked quite different. Gone for three weeks does that I guess too.
On this day in history and last year…
