On This Day…
Still not made any progress on getting this place put back together, but have made some mileage on getting the clutter tidied. After Jo and Lindsay managed a ‘sort’ on the bottom living room, we rushed to the tip last night and another load has gone. It included some long standing annoyances like the old boiler, a red painted fibreglass pot and a tub full of broken glass. It was certainly the best time to go to the tip with no queue and no ‘jobs worth’ to tell you that certain stuff has to go into certain bins and things. I never understand how a light shade with mainly material, goes in a steel skip, just because it has a small frame of wire?
Got the second sort up in the loft, although with Jo’s clothes crammed into the walk-in wardrobe, it was very tough to get to the loft hatch. We will need to review our plans for that as it’s not working currently, but at least we look fairly tidy around the place now and have, for the first time in over 6 months, got some ornaments out onto window sills to make the place a little brighter.
The wood for the floors in the study, dining room, living room and hall arrived yesterday. They had been told to arrive in a 7.5 ton truck with tail lift, but then packed the wood on a 6ft pallet which couldn’t be put on the tail lift. After much arguing, they sent a 10st Polish guy who just shuffled it to the back of the truck, off the pallet while Lindsay and Jo unloaded it. They weren’t happy!
Finally, after stopping at about 10pm I managed to get Jo’s hair coloured ready for all her pampering this week which starts today. Hopefully I will be able to get the bath connected tonight as that will be a step forward and stop the small leak I have from the old isolation valve.
The weather is awful and doesn’t look like being any better for the weekend. I’m not too bothered about the weekend, but may not be able to get the grass cut before honeymoon and that will be like a wilderness when I get home. Damn it!
There wasn’t a post on this day last year… can you believe that?
Mood meter =
