On This Day…
I’m out of here tonight. Despite Jo and I having lived together for 21+ years, tradition dictates that I cannot see the bride on the day until she turns up at my side in the ceremony. Strange, but there it is. This means I will need to get away from work at a reasonable hour, collect me things and check out.
I am stopping with Murray and Sally up near Witney and we will be spending a last bachelor night out on the town there, although, I promise to go steady as I don’t want a thick head for the day. Of course I will also be getting to the venue a little early on Saturday afternoon for a ‘swifty’, again, just the one (or two).
I need to keep a clear head too as I still have some of the speech to write, particularly as Murray announced when I spoke with him last night that his was done.
Got pretty much the last of the jobs done last night. Fitted a new belt to the mower, fixed the chicken enclosure fence and got all the ‘input’ plumbing done on the en-suite bath. That means all the water is connected to the sinks, bath and shower, it’s just none of them have their waste pipes connected!
Jo has been getting her tasks done too. She and Emma shot of to Makro yesterday afternoon to get stuff for the family BBQ on Sunday (yes, we are suckers for punishment) and then returned to finish a little trimming with the mower in a few places I couldn’t get to with the big one, before the belt broke or couldn’t be bothered to get to with the little one after I got soaked.
Got blamed for something I didn’t do yesterday too. Friend, banjo player and prolific blogger John Walkenbach, (oh, he writes Excel books for a living too, in fact he is currently doing a ‘find and replace’ from 2007 to 2010 to update all his books, should take the rest of the day), is blaming me for a spate of emails he is receiving form Korea and other places around the globe, after a couple of emails he got from readers, who most of his blog readers felt had been dealt with poorly in the first instance. He improved the standard of his customer facing correspondence and is now getting lots of requests for similar treatment.
The blogging may be a little sparse over the next couple of days as I travel around the country to avoid seeing Jo. it will then be regular until Tuesday when we leave on honeymoon in Borneo, where it could get a little sparse too. We’ll see.
On this day in history and last year…
