Menu command Type What happens next?
Cells... ...

Inserts a cell(s) at the currently selected position. The number of cells that are shifted is equal to the number of cells selected when the command is taken.  The dialog left is produced, asking whether the cell(s) around should be shifted down or right to accommodate the newly inserted cell(s), (default = down). You can also opt to insert an entire row(s)/column(s), which is technically the same as taking the Insert>Row, Insert>Column options from the insert menu. The latter is quicker for this need as it does not present another dialog, as in this option.

Sub InsertCells()
'Inserts a cell at currently active cell
ActiveCell.Insert Shift:=xlDown
End Subub
