Invokes windows' Symbol
viewer for selection of special characters in
any installed font. The 'viewer' is shown below.

If you find yourself entering
symbols regularly, this may for example be the €
symbol which is not available on a US keyboard,
you can do this without invoking the menu by
changing the 'from' drop-down to ASCII (decimal)
and noting the 'Character code'. Now make that
number four digits by preceding it with zeroes
as necessary, so looking at the box above the
code for the € symbol is 128, (so 0128). Now
hold down the Alt key while pressing on
the numeric keypad the numbers 0128, now
release the Alt key and the € symbol will be
displayed at the selected point. (Works in most
applications!) |
