Features for the web started to be added from Excel 2000
up. Since this time, Microsoft have concentrated
a large amount of their development time on web features.ods.
Saving a workbook as (File>Save as...) a 'web
page' and selecting the 'add interactivity' check
box. From here, you can select the entire workbook
or a selection within the workbook. The
resulting components can then be saved directly to a
web site using the 'publish' button
Creating the data table or chart directly in
FrontPage using Insert>Web component...>Spreadsheets
and charts.
It is interesting to note that, despite the issues
surrounding the number of rows and columns in all
versions of Excel from 97 to date, (256x65536), the OWC
have a much larger area, (4056x262144). I suspect this
has everything to do with the lack of backward
compatibility necessary in the OWC against that of the
main product.
All aspects of these objects can be changed, size, chart type, figures, etc. without changing any
data permanently on the server.
Have some fun playing.
